Mathew Swanepoel in Rotax Max Grand Finals
Mathew Swanepoel,15, from Durban is one of the talents who is participating in the Rotax Grand Finals 2010. This 11th edition is being held in La Conca in Italy. Swanepoel is one of the South Africans who qualified for the “the Olympic Games in motorsport.”
250 drivers, 52 countries and 5 continents. Those are the numbers for this event.
He qualified for this event by becoming South African champion. Swanepoel is in Italy and is looking forward to race in the Junior Max class. “Firstly La Conca is an outstanding track with some of the best facilities I’ve seen. This track is totally different to most tracks in South Africa in the aspect of jumping curbs, its really fast with many sweeps as well as tight corners. Its probably one of the most enjoyable tracks I have driven.”
“The drivers here are really good and the equipment is all very similar. South Africa has a good tradition in winning titles and I will do my best and hope for a top 5 finish. The practicing so far has been very good and we seem quite fast. The field of 76 drivers are all very good and so the racing will be very tough.”
