Wesleigh Orr not only won both the ROTAX DD2 and Max Challenge classes this weekend but also the 2006 ROTAX DD2 European Championship! Fellow South Africans Arnold Neveling, Claudio Piazza-Musso, David Perel and Raymond Johnson also brought home excellent results.
18 year old Wesleigh has achieved a lot internationally since his first season in the ROTAX Euro Challenge in 2004. He has won two ROTAX World Finals, been runner up in two Euro Challenges and finally won his first European title with one leg to go. Top Italian karting team CRG signed Wesleigh up earlier this year until the end of 2007 competing in the ICC (125 Gearbox) category as well. Wesleigh now leads the ROTAX Max Challenge category as well - let's see if he can make it a double.
2002 ROTAX World Champion Claudio Piazza-Musso in his PCR won the Masters Class after a promising performance at the second round in Lonato, Italy. Vereeniging youngster Arnold Neveling again impressed with a solid second in the ROTAX DD2 category and lies second in this championship.
The final Round of the 2006 Euro Challenge takes place in Genk, Belgium on 20-24 September 2006.
