ROTAX DD2 ON BRIDGESTONE - STUNNING RESULTS

15.01.2006

ROTAX agreed to allow their National Distributors to decide what make and compound of tire to use in 2007.

After receiving reports to the effect that high performance tires were better suited to the level of power that the DD2 engine delivers ROTAX agreed that a faster tire can be used in the National Max Challenge Series for 2007 as this really switched on the overall performance of the package.

In South Africa the ROTAX Distributor decided to use the Bridgestone YGK used by other karting classes here given its good balance of price and performance. While a softer tire would provide an even more stunning result the obvious disadvantages of shorter life, increased costs, stock holding, etc. make the Bridgestone YGK an obvious option.

Initial testing on Bridgestone's this week-end at Zwartkops saw the ROTAX DD2's circulating more than 1.5 seconds a lap faster than any other class. The drivers all raved about the drivability of the karts and were excited about the lap times.
