South African drivers head for Europe

Reigning Bridgestone Production Car champion
Leeroy Poulter and a number of South African drivers will
be contesting the four round European Rotax Mojo Max Challenge,
which gets underway at Salbris, France on 21-25 March.
Poulter, who normally races a Sasol backed
Nissan 350Z in the Production Car series will race in
the twin speed DD2 class while fellow circuit racer, Engen
Polo Cup front-runner and winner of the 2005 SA Max Challenge,
Mathew Hodges, will be in the more conventional Max Challenge
class.
Talented youngster Axcil Jefferies, a
member of the Toyota Castrol Development team will be
racing the Junior Max class and newcomer John van Wyk
will enter the Masters class.
Jefferies (12) is a front-runner in the
local Mini-Max class and has taken four wins from six
starts in the Northern Regions championship so far this
season. He will be one of the youngest drivers in the
class.
Van Wyk only started karting towards
the end of last season, but has shown an impressive turn
of speed together with intelligent racecraft.
The quartet will be aboard state of the
art Birel chassis supplied by and run with assistance
from the factory team, which is based almost within earshot
of the famous Monza circuit in Italy. Local Birel importer
Neil Curtis will be acting as team manager.
