Gauteng Round 1 - Polokwane - 25 May 2007
Despite dusty and slippery conditions
enthusiastic driving was the order of the day. The Junior
Max Class saw odds on favourite Trent Williams work his
way through the 15 kart field after loosing a wheel in
race 1. Caleb William and Richard Napier both had less
than their usual level of success while James Temple showed
great form running second for most of race one. The pre-final
was marred by two major accidents in turns one and two.
The unfortunate James Temple suffered a broken arm and
rib injuries while others sustained damage to their karts
and ego's. New comers to Pietersburg Shau Mafuna and Phillipus
Nthai stuggled in the difficult conditions and look forward
to racing on tar again!
The Max Challenge provided mixed fortunes
for the usual leaders. When the dust had settled Arnold
Neveling, Matthew Hodges and Ralph Odendaal occupied the
top three positions. It was unfortunate that these highly
experienced competitors did not run the full distance
in the final, cut short due to failing light. Overtaking
was well neigh impossible given that a lack of internal
kerbs allowed competitors to drag dirt onto the circuit
at will.
The ROTAX DD2 Class was well supported
with 17 entries. Pole sitter and early favourite Kyle
Lawrence was pipped in the final by Arnold Neveling and
Ralph Odendaal. The ever improving Michael Beukes gave
usual Masters favourite George Dos Ramos something to
think about finishing ahead on points for the day »

Western Province - Round 2 -
2 June 2007
The Junior Max Class provided entertaining
racing with the top three crossing the line 0.6 seconds
apart in the final. Andrew Gatland and Andrew Middleton
level peg at this stage but judging from the lap times
Aiden de Nobrega, Jarryd Evans and Dayne Angel are turning
in times within a tenth of the leaders. Gauteng competitors
beware - the Junior Max SARMC was won by a Capetonian
in 2005 »
