Important changes for 2008

The ROTAX classes will run in a separate series in 2008. The winners of this series will become National Champions. The series will consist of regional qualifiers in all participating regions and a one-off National Final at Zwartkops International Kart Raceway on 4 October 2008.

The top two competitors in Junior Max, Senior Max and ROTAX DD2 (winner and top Master competitor) will qualify for well sponsored drives at the 2008 ROTAX World Finals. This includes the use of brand new karts, dyno tested new engines, tyres, fuel, oil, tools, trolley as well as first class hotel accommodation.

The CIK classes KF2 and KF3 will be introduced in 2008 and will join GP Junior and the ROK classes in the traditional National Championship Series. You will have the option as in the CIK rules to run front wheel brakes. The series will consist of four rounds;

  • Cape Town 23 March 2008
  • Port Elizabeth 3 May 2008
  • iDube 29 June 2008
  • Vereeniging on 20 September 2008
In the GP Junior class new engines and carburettors will be evaluated from January 2008 until June 2008 for implementation in January 2009. As from 2008 only the SA Kart (Wild Kart) will be allowed for National Championship racing in GP Juniors.
