FREE ENTRIES IN THE 2009 ROTAX EURO CHALLENGE TO BE
WON AT THE FIRST EVER ROTAX WINTER CUP IN SPAIN THIS FEBRUARY
2008.11.13
The organisers and promoters of the Rotax Euro Challenge,
RGMMC Establishment, have announced an exciting addition
to the new season’s racing schedule in Europe, by
introducing the inaugural Rotax Winter Cup. The “ice-breaker”
event will take place at Karting Campillos, near Malaga
in the south of Spain 11 – 15 February, 2009 and
will not only give many Rotax drivers the opportunity
to prepare for the first round of the Euro Challenge,
but RGMMC are offering some fantastic prizes as well valued
at over €30,000.*
The winners in each of the four classes on the program:
Senior Max, Junior Max, Max Masters (30+ years/173kg)
and Rotax DD2 – will win their entry package* for
the complete season in the increasingly popular Rotax
Euro Challenge series. This also includes the track fees
for the official practice days, plus the regulation oil
and 4 sets of parc fermè tyres for the racing.
2nd place in all categories at the Rotax Winter Cup will
take home the next best prize with two Euro Challenge
rounds complimentary, while those who finish 3rd on the
podium at Campillos will be awarded one free round in
the 2009 championship.
Roland Geidel of RGMMC believes the Rotax Winter Cup
will be a great start to the year for the many European
drivers who are unable to do any practice at all throughout
the colder months. “For two years we’ve been
trying to find an ideal location that could host the opening
event with almost certain decent weather and this part
of Spain realistically offers this. It allows the Rotax
drivers a chance to be better prepared for the opening
round of the Euro Challenge in March, which is also going
to be at another venue in Spain, while also giving them
the possibility to win a place in the championship in
2009 for free.”
Karting Campillos is located in the south of Spain, nestled
in the picturesque Andalusia region landscape around 70km
north of the city of Malaga on the Mediterranean coast.
The circuit first opened in the spring of 2005, is 1588m
long with a width of 10m and this year played host to
the Spanish Championship. Track manager Martin Reuvers
claims the Winter Cup competitors will enjoy the racing
experience without any doubt. “The track is fast
but very, very technical and runs in a clockwise direction.
The first section goes uphill and then after turn 9, it
slopes back down, continuing to a combination of long
straights and hairpins. It means a lot for Karting Campillos
to welcome RGMMC and the Rotax Winter Cup as our first
international event. The track has already proved popular
for many international race teams to do testing during
winter due to the favourable weather.”
Entries open for the Rotax Winter Cup in less than a
month on December 1st and will be limited depending on
the class. The entry form can be completed at www.rgmmc.com
where all the relevant 2009 Sporting and Technical Regulations
will also be available.
*All prizes must be taken in accordance with the 2009
Sporting Regulations – subject to approval from
the CIK & FIA World Motorsport Council. Prizes offered
are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
