Veteran karter Myk Prescot set a guinness
world record of 24hrs of solo karting at the BAR track
in Vereeniging on Saturday and Sunday having completed
a massive 1011 laps.
There were a few minor problems along the way with a chain
seizing and destroying the rear sprocket at the 2-hour
mark.
He was full of praise for his 5 year
old Rotax Max Challenge engine which ran reliably with
the only problem being a loose baffle in the exhaust and
batteries that only lasted 90 minutes in the middle of
the night when temperatures dropped to below zero thanks
to a bitterly cold wind.
Even, more remarkable was the fact that
he used a single set of Briddgestone tyres and were capable
of 55 sec laps towards the end and "could of gone
faster if i still had feeling in my arms and fingers."
He also said he knows the track well.
